Sandy and I met Ezra in Rwanda in 2001. It was 7 years after the horrific genocide, the nation was understandably staggering under the weight of the pain and shame. We had taken 40 Canadians there to hear the stories and cry with the Rwandans. Ezra's story really impacted us and we've been friends ever since. He lives in Canada now with his wife (a Canadian who was with us on the 2001 trip) and his two boys. He is an infectious entertainer who has brought his very danceable music to stages throughout Western Canada, including the prestigious Blue Frog Studio and and world famous Vancouver Folk Fest. Ezra's story is woven Ito his music. Faith, hope and love come pouring out and somehow, out of the seasons of suffering comes joy. Lots of joy.
